Discount on Multiple Attendee Registration

Hi Guys,

Just doing some research for a client. Does this http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php?topic=13664.0 still stand? Is there no other way except a hook to provide a discount to the customer who would like to book more than one attendee?

yes, all discounting except for early bird discounts are done via a hook
