Custom text fields with multiple records for events

Is there a not too complicated way to create custom fields for events that allow multiple records like is possible for contacts?

Hi there
It may help if you explain your scenario since what you are after may be better done via another route. Also to be clear, are we talking about Event fields, or Participant fields?

Sorry for posting too quickly. I was not yet clear on the problem.

The organization using the system does not track participants in the normal sense of participants.  It organizes events for other organizations, and the participants in this database are only organizers, staff, contracted people, and occasional volunteers. The pages are not public, but are behind a login that is accessed by these support people. The event provides information for the people and a few custom fields are necessary.

The list requiring multiple selections is informational and would be entered by the person setting up the event and just viewed by the participants.

The items on the list from which selections are made for an event are products associated with a single business. Other events may be other businesses, but only one such business would be associated with a single event. I could set up the master list from which the multiple selections are being made as a custom field on the business entity, but I am not sure how to save just the selections taken from the business list to the specific event itself. It seems that I should be able to save the selections from the business as a formatted text list to a custom text field of the event that would then be displayed with the registration.

If I do it this way, what is the best way to insert (and later replace) such a record into an event related custom field? Would I use a hook, an API, or something else?

Or is there a better way?
