I have setup Civimail 1.9 with Joomla 1.012 (shared hosting). Now every HTML mailing has an "unwanted secondary footer":

Web Bug from http://www.mydomain.org/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/extern/open.php?q=xx.

Apart from that everything works well. I cannot find the reason, there are no other error messages.

Any ideas why this would be happening or how I can localize the reason?

that line seems to be added by some program "down the line" from civicrm. You might want to do a search:

thanks, the reason is the MailScanner service of the shared hosting provider before the mails are being delivered.

http://www.bugnosis.org/faq.html has a lot of information about web bugs.
