PayPal IPN Error
February 27, 2008, 09:01:04 pm
I just upgraded from CiviCRM 2.0 beta 2 to beta 3.  I went through the process of donating through CiviCRM and got through the whole thing.  When the process finished successfully, the donation stayed in pending mode in CiviCRM and I never received a receipt from CiviCRM.  On further investigation I noticed that I was getting an error from the IPN file.

When following the IPN URL passed to PayPal, I get this error message?

Could not find valid configuration dir, best guess: /home/.heathrow/predisan/predisan.org/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/../../sites

If this is a standalone installation (i.e. not a Drupal or Joomla module) and you'd like to re-initialize it, click here.

Is this a bug or did I goof something up in the upgrade from beta 2 to beta 3?  Any insight would be appreciated.  Thanks.

1. how did u upgrade to beta3?

2. i suspect you just did a code overwrite, which unfortunately does not work for joomla. You need to follow the below steps:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Upgrade+Joomla+Sites+to+2.0

and skip step 9.

3. I'll recheck the code to see if we can improve the process with some recent changes. Makes it a bit hard the way joomla components are structured

Lobo,

You're right.  I did a code overwrite based off of something I read in the forum.  I guess I didn't think the code overwrite would break a Joomla install.  In any case, thank you for the upgrade instructions.  I'll be sure to use those from here forward.
