Renewing Organisation members
July 25, 2012, 11:56:36 pm
Renewing Organization membership is still a bit of a struggle in as much as we only want to send an email reminder to the person who can renew on their behalf
and those conditions require that this person have a 'permissioned relationship' (can't recall if it has to also be 'current employee of')

Point is that finding these people can be tricky.

Adding 'is permissioned' as a radio button in Adv Search Relationships may make this a lot simpler. Am I missing some other process that can make life simpler?

so u mean the ability to find:

All the people who have a permissioned relationship of type X

might not be too hard to add to advanced search since it already deals with a couple of different related fields.

Hey Pete,

You found a way to send the auto renewal reminder of a membership at the organization level to an individual without putting the email address directly into the organization record?

Thanks,

AJ

Lobo - yes that exactly - being able to filter in/out Permissioned Relationships would be v helpful

NASACT - haven't had to deal with auto renewal yet - and am not even sure how that works for Orgs - are you saying it just goes to the Org - which makes sense - but doesn't make it easy

Sorry for the delay on this one and possibly some confusion.

I was asking for clarification on how autorenewal notices go out when they are Orgs.  Moreover I was hoping that there might be a way to set a contact record to use for orgs for notices and the like as assigning an email address to an org might not be feasible in all situations. Currently I have created a tag that is primary contact and use that but mass mailing a general reminder of renewals isn't really the best thing.  If someone knows of a way to set this it would be great and I think very useful to many who want to designate a contact within an org for all sorts of functions.

I hope to discuss Org renewals with the core team at civicon/sprint - it does seem unnecessarily problematic still.

Anyone who does the Membership sign up for an Org needs to be given a special status or Relationship or something - so they can be easily identified and communicated with.

I haven't dealt with 'autorenewals' but the logic seems the same - they need to go out to the person who signed the Org up - or, to someone else who is put in to that role/status subsequently.

I think another checkbox on 'current employer' relationship might suffice eg 'use for on-behalf-of' emails or somesuch

That sounds perfect. I sure hope it gets implemented as it helps tremendously on both fronts. Thanks so much for taking this on. Myself and others will be ever greatly appreciative.  The work around right now is to put the individual's email address in the org's. Which makes use of a dummy email for the individual. Which is not good.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!
