Too slow!
July 26, 2012, 08:41:18 am
I was so excited when I installed CiviCRM yesterday.  But to my dissapointment, it ran so slow.  I am using Dreamhost.  They offer free for non-profit organization.  Our organization could not afford because we are small and fragile.

My suspcious that I need to remove webforms, smtp, and some other modules that already installed on the Drupal side.

I look forward to hearing some good news.

Karen

Please note what is written on the About CiviCRM page:

Quote
CiviCRM is resource-intensive. We encourage users to consider Virtual Private Servers (VPS) OR (semi) dedicated hosting OR shared hosting from a host with experience hosting CiviCRM. Please review our Hosting provider information page for hosting options.

Most shared hosts do not provide sufficient resources to run CiviCRM well. You can certainly try to disable modules, but there may be no real solution aside from finding better hosting.

Anyone who could make a suggestion.  Is there anyone who is very happy with the speed of integrated Drupal and CiviCRM at low price?

You should check out hershel's civihosting.com where u can get a site for fairly cheap ($20/month or so?) which is definitely a very low price.

If that price is too high for your org, maybe civi is not the right solution for your org. In addition to hosting costs, there is a fair amount of love and care that any software needs going forward

For the record, a Regular Account with CiviHosting is actually only $15 a month. :)

Not that CiviCRM requires any more maintenance than any other package. In my experience, it requires actually a bit less than many other large OS PHP/MySQL tools out there. :)

Thank you for all your reply.    I  have fine-tuned and it is okay for now.  When it gets too slow and there is no way for me to get around.  I'll consider to switch to another web hosting.
