Updating Memberships
July 26, 2012, 01:59:35 pm
Hello, does anyone know if there is an easier way to do this without using the membership id that civi must create for each individual record (after the initial memberships have been imported)? any help appreciated! H

Hi Peter, exactly. In other words, we keep having to export membership ids out of civi, reintegrate them with newly received data files, etc. My understanding is that civi has to create the membership from the initial membership but that number is only created/visible once exported. For the update, it would then need to be re-imported as the unique id used to match the new expiration date to the existing (previously imported) membership. We're dealing with single memberships per member. H

I can't see how you can do this without using the ID of the membership since that is the object you are wanting to update
