Event registration doesn't work as it used to

I have upgraded to 4.2 beta3 from 4.1. I am using Drupal 6.
Previously when a new user registered for an event it would register him for the event as well as create a drupal user login.
But now after the upgrade, upon filling and submitting the event registration form, it returns to the same page. It doesn't go forward to add dditional participants and also no user is being created.
But if the user already has a drupal login, and if he login ..he is able to use the form and register for the event without any problem.
Can you people help me out, I am new to civicrm.
