Working around hourly limits (4.1.5 Mailer settings and optimization)
August 07, 2012, 06:59:32 pm
I know this issue has been discussed before, but I could not find a sufficiently reassuring reference that was relevant to CiviCRM 4+.

Can anyone point me to a good explanation of Mailer Settings and Optimization for CiviCRM 4.1.5? (Something more thorough than the online manual and on-screen field descriptions.)

Specifically, I am trying to configure CiviMail for a host that limits outgoing email to 500 messages per hour.  They bounce everything after the 501st message.

I'm thinking that I should set Mailer Batch Limit to something like 480, and set the Process Scheduled Mailings to 65 minutes (just to be safe).  I don't see that the Mailer Job Size or Mailer CRON Job Limit need to be anything other than 0 (zero). Our maximum mailing blast is to about 900 addresses.

That sounds fine to me.
