Profiles and Contribution Creation

Is it possible to use a Profile to enable the creation of multiple contributions via single page?
User would enter contribution data into grid (col/row) for one or more contributions.
Pressing submit would insert data and possibly execution another action eg produce report listing entered contributions and summing up to get a total amount.

unclear what the usage is for the above eg front or backend - but if you haven't already seen what Price Sets can be used for on Contribution pages, then check them out.

The usage is currently for someone within the organisation accessing CiviCRM directly. Not front end, supporter, use.

I thought Price Sets where for setting the price of a single contribution type.

What I am after is a simple way to allow for a back-office person to process a mixed donation form in which, say, a membership amount is given and an additional donation is given. The two have to be linked via a single receipt number and printed via a single receipt.

Ah ok - no i don't recall seeing anyone posting a solution for that and not possible out of the box.
If you have some energy and skills to put in to sorting something hopefully someone with more technical skills will poke their head in here
