Simple contacts with no membership requirements
August 16, 2012, 01:26:11 pm
Hello

Should I use CiviMember when I don't offer memberships? I would like to enable contacts to self-register, but:

> there is no restricted content which needs different (member/nonmember) access levels.
> there is no membership dues

Contacts will be used for CiviContribution and mailings.

Could I simplify this deployment by disabling CiviMember?

Thanks!

Yes - civimember is for when there is a Membership or Subscription system that has a start and end date (or not the latter for Life Membership)

Just think of your 'contacts' as 'contacts' ;-)

Thanks! That makes life easier. Now if I can only get the contact update function to work...
