Different (separate) types of membership for same organisation
August 20, 2012, 11:25:29 am
This continues the conversation from CRM 7297 (issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-7297 - bottom posts).

I'm having several problems with membership renewal:

  • Memberships assigned to organisation A still renews an existing membership assigned to organisation B.
  • Memberships X and Y for the same organisation with X having a five-year duration and Y a 1-year duration, when buying Y while already having X, renews X for another five years (instead of one).
  • There's a genuine use case for the organisation in having two different memberships for the same organisation without them renewing each other (they are transitioning from one type of membership to another and want to track "old style" and "new style" members).

The last one might be worked around using a dummy organisation record, but not as long as the two first errors persist. This is using CiviCRM 3.4.4.

1 and 2 sound like bugs - which may have been fixed in subsequent releases. Would be good if you can test those scenarios on the current public demo (which is running the upcoming 4.2 release) and report back.
