Bulk mailing -- some tokens not showing up for some users

Hi All,

I have a bit of a puzzle.  We sent out a bulk mailing including a variety of tokens (many from custom fields).  We can tell by the response that at least some of these tokens went through. 

However, some people have replied saying that they did not get some of the tokens (links). 

When people responded and included our email in their reply, we can see that some tokens (their first name and the opt out URL) went through.  But some of the other tokens seem blank. 

Has anyone experienced this?  Any idea what's going on?  My experience tells me that these things are usually due to user error (either us or the email reader) but I can't identify the error.

Any thoughts on how to solve or even trouble shoot would be greatly appreciated!
