NEWBIE Question on where to start
August 23, 2012, 02:40:35 pm
I'd like to know if there is a location i can go to that will help me with a CiviCRM-for-dummies approach to setting up my site.

I've managed to get most configures and able to create an event and several price sets for the event. This of course was all done from the back-end.

Now I'd like the PUBLIC who visit my site to register (ON-LINE) with the event.

 1. How do I create a link on my Joomla site and have that link take them to a sign-up form?

Any help is much appreciated.

You will probably find the answer to your question here : book.civicrm.org/user I'd tell ya but I am a Drupal guy :-)

As far as the location goes, check for a CiviCRM meetup in your area on the civicrm website? Or join CiviCon in London or one of the sprints after that! (see the website)

Hello ksweeney,

You can find the link to your sign up form by clicking on the events tab in CiviCRM, then selecting manage events. Next, find the event you want the link for, click Event Links (on the right side), and select Registration (Live). this takes you to the online registration page (provided you have online registration enabled). Copy the URL for this page, as this is the link you are looking for.

As far as adding it to your page, I was able to find an article that may be of assistance to you:

Cheers,
