I agree with FrTommy. It sounds strange that we need seed sponsors before it can become a MIH? I thought the objective of the MIH was to get functionality even if there are no seed sponsors?

I promise to write a blog post on the topic in the coming days, with an estimate of what we think we need to get this done.

a few comments:

1. Out of the past 20+ MIH's we've seen that MIH's without any seed funding are less likely to succeed

2. An MIH requires an estimate for the work that needs to be done and hence an idea on the feature set.

3. It also needs someone to implement it. Getting a decent estimate takes some amount of time and the folks doing the implementation (need not be the core team, CiviAccounts was done externally) would need to provide it.

If there is a group who is willing to do the above, we'd be happy to add it to the MIH page.

I can see and accept that is the way it has worked and will continue to work. I think it is not the reaso though not to try MIH without seed funding? For me that is the core of the MIH even if it fails in 90% of cases without. Having the opportunity makes the community work IMO. For me it would be like giving up on voting for the EU because only 5 out of 10 voters show up....the core idea is still democracy :-)

I will take on the other two points, we (CiviCooP) will make a decent estimate and implement if the MIH does make it. Give me a few days, still suffering from flu at the moment  :P

Thanx for CiviCoop to step up and do the estimate / implementation.

the big difference (IMO), in a democracy, u pay taxes which in turn funds the voting infrastucture. U need folks to be present at the voting booth!

I think we totally agree there Lobo. It also needs the voting booth to stay open :-)
