drupal vs civicrm profile fields
August 29, 2012, 03:09:48 am
I want my users to provide a first name and last name when they register, and then not be able to change it. Would I be better adding the fields in drupal (configure/people/account settings) or using a civicrm profile? If there's not a clear 'best practice' answer, what advantages and disadvantages should I be considering?

I have the civicrm roles sync module linking the relevant drupal roles to civicrm member types.

thanks
Shirley

My recommendation would be to use CiviCRM profile and add it to registration page. This way first name and last name will be stored in CiviCRM.

Thanks, good point - then contacts would be searchable by name in civicrm.
