Upgrading from 3.31
September 04, 2012, 03:48:01 am
hi, I am not allowed to post external links, you'll need to remove the spaces from the link to the wiki page

I found which version I have running by checking the CHANGELOG.txt which says

// $Id: CHANGELOG.txt,v 1.253.2.41 2010/08/11 20:35:47 goba Exp $

Which I presume means I am running 1.253....

This link explains how to upgrade to 1.9

http:// wiki . civicrm . org/confluence/display/CRMDOC21/Upgrade+from+Prior+Versions+-+Drupal+and+Joomla

It says Select civicrm-2.0.x-drupal.tar.gz (for drupal) but it's not on the download page

Does anybody know the location of the file I need?

Turns out I didn't read the instructions on gettig the version number properly...the CHANGELOG doesn't contain this info

Quote
Drupal version info should be in CHANGELOG.txt at the top of your drupal install (yoursite/CHANGELOG.txt).

CiviCRM version should be displayed on each page, at the bottom, in page footer.

The CiviCRM version is not in the footer, does anybody know where I might find my currently installed version? It was installed in 11/2010 if that helps.

EDIT: or maybe it does, having looked at some other civiCRM files they all seem to have the version number at the top that is similar starts with $id, can anybody help clear this up?

2010 wasn't that long ago - when you're using CiviCRM does it not have a "powered by Civicrm v. x" statement at the bottom of the page? If not, the civicrm_domain table in your database usually lists the version number it is on (if you're able to view that direct) as do many of the PHP files in the opening text if you view them in a text viewer (but not always right, though). Failing which, since 2010 isn't that old can you just try upgrading a COPY of your site up to v4.2 - it might "just work" and in the process tell you what version of Civi you were on.

It says 3.3.1 is the version in the domain table

I'm slightly relieved, many thanks.

I have another question....drupal version is 6.1.9 do I need to do anything with that? Upgrade it?

If you're upgrading to v4.2 then I believe you have to use D7 (says a Joomla user who doesn't really know).
