Has anyone gotten civimail to work with hostgator?

I'm going crazy...spent all day trying to get this to work. Test emails go through fine, but the real ones don't.  The documentation says ...
Under Linux, the optional CiviMail component requires PHP 5.X with SOAP and DOM extensions and Postfix 2.2 (a mailer)

I'm wondering if that's the problem?  I love the software, but it has fought me every step of the way :)
