event price set for Members / non members
September 06, 2012, 02:27:36 pm
Hi,

I am trying to make a price set with a simple drop down menu selection that has 2 options : Yes  or No (answer to the question if that person is a member or not)
I defined that when selecting yes, the price is 0€ and when selecting NO it is 12€
the only payment method is ' pay later '

I created an event, configured the priceset to set the 'fee' and the online registration to allow registration of multple participants.
What I notice is that when the first participant (of e.g. 2 in total) is a member and selects yes to the question, that is ok. the total event fee is kept 0
next participant. If that second particpant is set to NO then, the event fee is updated to 12. ok so far. I register name, email etc. but when pressing the next button I get an error:

Please correct the following errors in the form fields below:
Your payment information looks incomplete. Please go back to the main registration page, to complete payment information.

I think it is because of the 'pay later' thing. Not sure if it is a bug but I could really use this functionality so I can give free entrance to members and make non-members pay a fee.
I recreated the setup in the drupal sandbox and get the same error. http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/event/register?reset=1&id=11

any ideas on how I can fix this or get the same result in another way?
Much appreciated

Is this problem happening on your 4.2b installation or the other one? There was a bug in 4.1.x with $0 options but thought that was fixed for 4.2 - can you pls verify on demo if not on your own site

I should update that info. It happens on a 4.2 final (upgrade from the 4.1.x via a few 4.2 beta's though)

I can reproduce it on the demo drupal environment as you can see with the link.
I think it works if you use the text box fields for the priceset. but I would like to use a pulldown menu with each of the choices pointing to a either 0 or 12€ event fee.

Hi,
bringing this up again.
in the meantime I can confirm that it is not a problem to create a price set that has price options that are free. just put in the 0 price.

The issue happens when you want to use this price set with an event registration where you allow the primary registrant to register additional participants. If in that case the primary participant has selected the free price set option but he selects the paying option for the second or third or.. participant you will get this error.

I suspect that the problem is related to the fact that when the first participant requires no payment (since he selected the option from the price set that is 0 in price) the payment module is not added(?) or activated for the other participants either?

Please have a  look and tell me if there is anything more I can do?

Have you resolved this issue?

For anyone else finding this, I suspect it's related or the same as http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-8850

If you are registering multiple participants and the fee for the first one is zero, then upon attempting to save the second participant who has a fee associated, you will receive the error.

This issue seems to be a major fix: 5-20 hours?

if someone is willing to take a look at it and/or sponsor the fix, that would be great and help

Lobo,

I would if I could but the non-profit I volunteer for has no cent to spare unfortunatly.
I already have to maki civi work on a shared host, running into cpu issues all the time but it has to be low cost.
Afraid that sponsoring will not be possible unless I front the cash myself  :'(
