Eileen's new report framework - going to be a major help with line item reports
September 06, 2012, 11:25:52 pm
Many of you know that Eileen has been working on a module for making reports that (among other things) will give line-item detail reports for contributions and event registrations that use price sets.

We are in the process of migrating our membership & donations more completely over to CiviCRM.  We've been using for event registrations and specific contributions and campaigns for a few years but a couple of things kept us from moving over our main contributions & membership database:

 1. Lack of membership price sets
 2. Lack of line-item detail level reports from contributions with price sets

Ver. 4.2 fixes problem #1 and Eileen's new reporting module fixes problem #2, so it looks like we're in!

FYI I spent some time this week adding the report functionality we need to Eileen's report module, and uploaded the resulting file here as an attachment:

 http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-9501#comment-44768

Besides all the other features of Eileen's module, the file I uploaded there has these features:

Functions to bring into the reports: Email, phone number for the main contact;  Basic contact info and email, phone number, address for related contacts (ie, spouse, manager/owner); Contact info for both the payor and the registered contact for event registrations that are paid for by a different person than the registration.

Also it addresses a problem with the reports where event participant registrations paid for by someone else weren't showing up.

Altogether, I think this is going to give us the reports with the level of detail we need on those price set transactions--if you've been looking for that as well you might look at the module.
