ACL Problem: "Not Allowed (Locked)"
September 09, 2012, 05:00:56 am
Hi.

I'm having some problems getting frontend editing of profiles working and I think its something to do with the ACL setup. Looking at my list (see screenshot) there are several entries showing "Not Allowed (Locked)" - which will not allow me to change the settings.

Any idea how I can reset the ACL settings to clear this?

Cheers,

Ian.

Hello Ian,

Check your levels. At some point in the Heirarchy there is a group renking above the one shown that has been denied access to these permissions. once you find it, allow access, and select save, you should be able to change te settings for this group.

Cheers,
Jason

Hey!

Unfortunately even if I set all the previous levels to 'Allow', the sub levels still show as Locked.

I was hoping to figure out a 'Master Reset' to the ACL in case I've broken something somewhere.

Ian.

I finally figured out how to solve this with 2 fixes - not sure they were both necessary, but they're what I discovered while trying to diagnose!

1. When I upgraded Joomla from 1.5 to 1.7 (and then on to 2.5 etc.) the database entriy headers were changed from jos_ to j17_ (or similar). I just found that I didn't change this in 'CMS Database Integration' in Civi's System Settings. No idea if this made a difference, but there it is!

2. I found the bit of the MySql database that controls the Joomla ACL part of Civi. It's under ###_assets, in the civicrm row/rules column. I tried to understand what I was looking at but decided that I would try copying the same bit from a fresh Civi install would be worth trying (after oplenty of backup action!

The result is that my Joomla ACLs in Civi have been reset and all of the 'LOCKED' messaged have gone away and I can re-customise my ACLs without problems.

Phew!
