importing / exporting contacts
September 11, 2012, 04:41:12 am
Hi

New civicrm user - so please bear with me - I've searched and not found quite the topic I'm looking for.

I have contacts entered and there's a chance I may have to reinstall civicrm...

but regardless of that - when I export the contacts it generate a hash contact (which I presume is for security) can I ask - if I import in civicrm using this file - will civicrm decrypt this back into an email address?

Because if I have to reinstall an export/import may well save me hours and hours of work.

thanks!
Clare.

What settings are you using for your export? It shouldn't show a hash for anything. Emails should be exported as plain text.

Its probably easier to use phpmyadmin to export the sql file and then import it again! This is pretty easy to do. (Backup database first! Also easy)
