Seems this is an odd field.
If someone enters say "Example Company" to associate this person to the already existing
company with that name but mis-spells it then you have a problem.
So if it was auto fill then the person would know they found the right one and if there are none it would
create one.

It's a good idea - this concept has been showing around here and there, might be good time to start thinking about implementing it. Can you please post an "Improvement" issue in our issue tracker briefly describing intended behaviour of this modification?
