cannot get CiviCRM to load
September 13, 2012, 09:05:22 pm
I'm trying to add CiviCRM to Bartik. The CiviCRM page says to use the sourceforge page to download the tarball (civicrm-4.2.0-drupal.tar.gz).  When I run install, Chrome says it is uploading, but there's nothing under the Modules page.

Other modules have installed without any trouble.

If I use a local install version with MAMP, the CiviCRM files install and appear under the Modules page. However enabling CiviCRM causes an error message:
CiviCRM settings file does not exist. It should be created by CiviCRM install. Running the installer again tells me that CiviCRM is already installed.

4.2.0 is supposed to be the stable version. I'm sure I'm missing something simple but I'm new enough to Drupal that I don't know where to look.

Thanks for any help!

1. I recommend you download the tarball yourself from sourceforge and then upload to your site and unzip it. It's very large so Drupal can't always get it by itself.

2. You can't just enable CiviCRM, you must follow the installation procedure here: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC41/Drupal+Installation+Guide+for+CiviCRM+4.1+-+Drupal+7
