Any 'Report' menu link takes me back to Civi homepage
September 14, 2012, 07:05:33 am
Hi All

I wonder if any of you can help??

I've recently migrated our copy of Civi to our own server away from shared hosting. All has gone well apart from one small bug/issue.

Since moving the site I cant open any link in the reports section, clicking on any of them just returns me to the Civi homepage/dashboard.  To try and remedy it I've tried:
  • Re-checked directory paths, OK
  • Check Civi.Settings.PHP, OK
  • Updated to Civi 4.2.1, OK and no errors
  • Scratched head a few times :-)

Has anyone else had theses issues?  I've seen a few posts on the forums and checked various things in the database but all seems as it should.

Any pointers would be great!

Thanks

Matt

N.B.

I am running:
  • Joomla 2.5.6
  • Civi 4.2.1
  • PHP Version 5.4.3
  • MYSQL version 5.1.41
  • Wamp on Win Server 2008, Apache version 2.2.22

What is the URL of the links you are clicking on?

Hi Hershel

Thanks for your reply!

The URL's point to

http://www.morvargh-sailing.co.uk/administrator/?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/report/instance/5&reset=1

The number after "instance/ number here & reset..." changes incrementally from the first report to the last.

With the report lising link pointing to "instance/list&reset..." and the create reports links to::

 "my domain /administrator/?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/report/template/list&reset=1"

I looked at the test / demo site for Civi and this seems to be correct???

Thanks for any help you can give

Regards

Matt

The address bar displays

www.morvargh-sailing.co.uk/adm... etc

when I copy the link it puts a http:// in the front

so with the www.

The base URL is set to http://www.morvargh-sailing.co.uk/

When you click on the report URL, it forwards you to a different URL? Or it remains the report URL and you just see the CiviCRM home page?

Thanks for the uber quick replies!

The link to the report stays in the address bar but I just see the Civi home page

I'm not sure why it fails. :(

The only thing I could suggest is double check that your CiviCRM codebase is correct.

No worries

Thank you for having a look. :-)

By codebase do you mean the files from a Civi package or the base url thing??

Thanks again!

Re: Any 'Report' menu link takes me back to Civi homepage {SOLVED}

Hi All

After some extensive digging and re-installing of civi it seems I may have found the answer!

I have been able to track my problems back to when setting the custom directories (templates/php), this was throwing a server 500 error and after which my reports links would not work.

After a re-installing several times this kept happening so I decided that perhaps it was my WAMP server settings that was causing the 500 server errors.

I found this great post http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,25248.msg106573.html#msg106573 by joemaine listing what they've done with their setup.

After following it through and increasing most timeout and memory settings I am glad to say it all looks to be working much more smoothly.

I am now able to change the custom directories and still have the reports working.

Thanks fall your help

Matt
