data entry via profiles
September 22, 2012, 08:22:49 am
One of the things I use my civicrm for is to  mobilise volunteers. I have a smart group of helpers, the data of which I export and then merge into a word document so each volunteer has one sheet of paper. I then call the volunteer, write the data onto the paper then I manually key in the data back into civicrm.

I would like to do it all online. I have looked at using batch update via profile but the way the profile is set out (columns stretching across the page) is really unwieldy and in any case I can't get enough fields to display.

I'd like to be able to select a group, click on the first person in the group, bring up an editable page with only the fields I want (liek a profile) and then be able to update and go automatically to the next person in the group.

I feel this ought to be do-able but not quite sure how best to attack it...does anybody have any thoughts?

Thanks

Coleman Watts

If you're on Drupal you could make a nice webform for this :)
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.

Mr. Watts refers to the http://drupal.org/project/webform_civicrm module that is. This module is authored by, well, Mr. Watts. :)
