Pulling a contact list through Joomla
March 04, 2008, 04:31:50 pm

I've set up a CiviCRM link as a menu item in Joomla, accessible only to 'special' users.

When a user clicks the link they are taken to the members search page, but when they leave the fields blank and click search, 2 times out of 3 they receive an error that says unrecoverable error: could not find pid.

After the first couple of times, the list works OK.

Any ideas?

1. i assume this is on the joomla frontend

2. did u make the session fix in joomla's index.php. Ensure you have done it exactly as specified in the wiki :)

I didn't do the session fix because it said not to for 1.5

The error I receive is:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

Could not find valid value for gid

Return to home page.

unfortunately we are not supporting joomla 1.5 at this stage, so you'll have to help us and the community by investigating and trying to figure out whats happening and why and a potential patch

I've just tried a new installation of 2.0beta5 with Joomla 1.0.14 and I'm getting the same error "Could not find valid value for gid"
I've made the session fix in index.php according to this information in the wiki  http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Configuring+Front-end+Profile+Listings+and+Forms+in+Joomla!+Sites
No joy.

Having thought about it a bit and doing a little research, I realized that I did not have a session.save_path set properly in the php.ini.

I set that and it appears to have cleared the problem.

Montano can you check your php.ini (or install it and check if you are on a shared host) for the correct session.save_path variable and try it again?

I bet this is the problem.
