Shopping Cart Question

I turn on the shopping cart component for civievent but things do not seem to be working.

The "conference slot" appears under manage events, but none of the online options change to "Add to Cart".  Also, when I register for any events, it goes directly to checkout.

I have done a lot of searching but can find no help solving this problem.  Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

the event cart part of civievent is still in alpha/beta (IMO). The developers of that aspect are a bit tied up with other stuff and it has been a bit neglected

if you can take a look and help debug / improve / patch it, that would be great :)
