Custom Data Group - how to add to page?
March 05, 2008, 11:39:43 am

I'm trying to create a fee membership (student or teacher). All student and teacher will need to fill out "Membership Information". There should be another set of information called "Teacher Information Only" - filled out by teacher only.

I've create a new custom data group called (Teacher Information Only). However I don't know how to add "Teacher Information Only" to the page?  Do I create another civimember profile?

Please advise.. Am I doing this correctly???

Thanks
Niki

Yes - you can create a second CiviCRM Profile, put your Teacher Only fields in that profile and then add it as a 2nd profile to your "Join Maya Now" membership signup page.

However, with this solution you will have to rely on users "following your directions" regarding which fields they need to complete. If you want to make sure that teacher fill out the required "Teacher Only" fields - another approach would be to create 2 separate membership signup forms - one for students and one for teachers - and direct your users / browsers to the appropriate URL.

Great idea - I'm going to do that - create two different membership forms - thanks

Still not sure - how do I pull the "Teacher Only" fields into profile? I've tried creating a new "Teacher" profile, but under Field Name (drop down list) I don't see "Teacher Information Only" custom data group... ?

please advise.

Thanks
Niki

Niki - Assuming you've set up your Teacher Only custom fields as "Used for" = Individuals... then when you add a field to your Teachers Only profile, you should see each of these custom fields in a second list of options after first selecting "Individuals" in the Field Name dropdown.

You'll have to suppress PHP notices for your joomla install. You can do this as a joomla admin. Goto

Site >> Global Configuration >> Server

and change Error Reporting to one of the other values. You'll have to experiment and see which one is a good fit for you

Also, it looks like you haven't enabled any Membership Types for this Online Contribution page - the "Membership Types" block is empty. Not sure if this is related - but you should get that working like you had it on the original page.

Ok - got both forms to work -- YES!!! Thank you!

Last question... is there a way to format the form? Notice how the table is pushing layout out...

check: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Customize+Built-in+and+Profile+Screens

might be easier/simpler fix to see if you can suppress the left hand column for that specific page in your joomla templates. We dont know joomla well enough to point u in the right direction for that fix
