[SOLVED] Can't set up relationship between person and org or two persons

Hello,

I recently migrated to 4.2.2 version of civicrm and I'm facing an issue with relationship between two persons, or between a person and an organization.

I select a contact and then click : add a relationship. Then I choose the type of relationship and write down the name of the contact I want to link it with. When you select the contact a table is supposed to show up below with informations related to the relation : start/end date, description, note...
In my case this table is not showing up.

I tried with Firefox 15.0.1 / Chrome 22.0.1229.79 m / IE 8 - no changes.

Any idea ?

Can you please try to reproduce this on http://demo.civicrm.org/ and if it is also a problem there please file a bug in the issue tracker.
If it doesn't happen on demo, then it may be local to you... try clearing your caches.

Hi Coleman
I tried on the demo site and it worked well.
I cleaned the caches >> CiviCRM / Administer / Cleanup caches
It still doesn't work...
Any idea

Check your firebug console for any js errors when loading the page or doing the autocomplete.

How do you do that ? :) I know how to use Firebug, but not for JS error checking

Just open up firebug to the console tab, and refresh the page. Any js errors will be reported in the console window.
(to ensure that it is working... you should also see the callback in the console window when typing in the autocomplete)

Hello Coleman
Please find hereunder the Firebug snapshot when trying to set a new relation.
There are two errors :
  • First one appears when loading the page
=> "Veuillez sélectionner d'abord un type de relation..." means "Please select first a relation type" :)
  • Second one appears when selecting the contact name

Any idea ?

Ah. Looks like it is a localization issue. The translated string was not properly escaped and so the ' character in the middle of the string breaks the script.
