Can't send mail all of a sudden!

As of Oct. 1st, CiviMail was sending emails fine, but now, without changing any settings, we're getting the following error:

Failed to connect to smtp.gmail.com:587 [SMTP: Failed to connect socket: Network is unreachable (code: -1, response: )]

We get this when we try to register someone and send them a receipt. And I'm getting it when I'm trying to send a test email from the outgoing mail settings page.

I've logged into Google Apps to make sure I can send emails from there using the same account. It works fine.

Any ideas?

I guess you mean CiviCRM settings. Do you know if there have been any changes on your server? Otherwise it might have been something that has changed at smtp.gmail.com

For some reason, CiviCRM on your server is not able to reach smtp.gmail.com.

Where abouts / how is this hosted?

What method are you using for outbound mail? http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/setting/smtp?reset=1

Might be worth contacting your sysadmin and seeing what they say.

Thanks Michael. We found the problem. Apparently, the gateway which we were previously using
has changed/moved. They were able to change it on the server side and that fixed the problem.
