Can't upgrade database - call to wrong civicrm_root path

Hi, I upgraded from 4.1.3 to 4.2.2 and all went fine, except that the database upgrade fails with the following error in the Apache log:

File does not exist: (base_dir)/packages, referer: (base_dir)/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/upgrade&reset=1

There are other calls to (base_dir)/css and (base_dir)/js

Why is it trying to find the packages, js and css directories in the Joomla base directory? These have always been in $civicrm_root as far as I know. Or have I missed something?

Well, I answered my own question: it was a php version problem. I was running 5.2.17. I upgraded php to 5.3.17, and the upgrade went through just fine. Hope this helps anyone else who has the same problem.
