No, the error does not take place on the demo site.

I can tell you this...when you go to the Administration Console and click "Profiles" for example here's the link it takes you to:

index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/uf/group&Itemid=117&reset=1

If you access "Profiles" from Administer > Customize Data & Screens > Profiles it goes to this link:

administrator/?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/uf/group&reset=1

not sure why you admin console has different links

whats the url for the admin when u get there? is there an ItemID in it? how do u get to the admin console

I just go to CiviCRM in the back-end and click on Administration Console under Administer.

dont know how we could solve it, since we include quite a few other 3rd party packages that also use the autoloader. might want to pursue it in the joomla forums?

I apologize for never updating this. I implemented the solution outlined in the above link. It worked. Only issue is that it is a core hack so you need to do it again anytime you upgrade joomla. Also seeing that is potentially fixed in the latest release. Haven't upgraded and tried it.
