Event Confirmation Email missing State/Province

Odd, it appears that CiviCRM 4.1.2+ on Drupal 7 seems to suffer from a strange bug where the token $location.address.1.state_province doesn't parse in the Event Confirmation email for the location of the event. We've noticed this on various installations of CiviCRM v4.1.2, v4.1.3 and 4.2.2

Any ideas? It's surrounded by {if $location.address.1.city} {/if} City location appears, followed by a comma and two spaces, then the postal code. Clearly it's not parsing the state_province token at all....Any help would be appreciated....

I'm having this issue as well on Civicrm 4.4.7 / Drupal 7. It's an old issue, but doesn't seem to be fixed yet.
