Upgrade 4.2.3 DB Deleted
October 18, 2012, 08:45:32 am
I have just updated my joomla to 2.5.7 and civicrm from 4.1.3 to 4.2.3 in my development site and the database was deleted and reinstalled. (I lost all configuration, contacts, events.....)

I have a backup of my 4.1.3 database and site!.

Would there it be a problem?

I followed the upgrade document in the wiki

(I am not an expert!!!!) I am going to reinstall development site to my production site and reupgrade. To see if it happens again!.

Kind regards,
Federico

Please do not use 4.2.3 -- get 4.2.4. See here: http://civicrm.org/blogs/dave-greenberg/announcing-civicrm-424

Hi Hershel,

I have just used 4.2.4 for Joomla and I have 2 different problems:

1. With file: 4.2.4 civicrm-4.2.4-joomla-alt.zip

JInstaller: :Instalar: El archivo (the file) /home2/santarsi/public_html/tmp/com_civicrm/civicrm.php no existe (does not exist)
Error instalando componente (Error installing component)

2. With file civicrm-4.2.4-joomla.zip

I could install it but I have my Database deleted again.

Should I use those files for upgrading?

Kind regards,
Federico

You used civicrm-4.2.4-joomla.zip and you unzipped it manually and upgraded and it deleted all the data in your database? That's bizarre.

Are the tables still there?

Hi Hershel,

Well, I used the civicrm-4.2.4-joomla.zip unzipped in the server (With the file mentioned I had an error!) , and used the com_civicrm directory to upgrade.

The database is there with initial configuration. The only user created is the Admin (I used to have 122 users)

The footer of the site shows:Powered by CiviCRM 4.2.4. CiviCRM is openly available under the GNU Affero General Public License (GNU AGPL).
Download source.     View issues and report bugs.     Online documentation.

So I assumed that the upgrade was fine, but in the components

extension --> extension manager -->manage (If I look for the civicrm component) I can see:

CiviCRM    Administrador       Componente    4.1.3    June 06 2012 (Which is my original version)

Could something have gone wrong and the upgrade finished without errors?

If you want to take a look to the development server send me a private message.

Kind regards,
Federico

Not sure what's happening. Do you have a backup of the DB that you can restore? I would suggest you try that and then run the upgrader again.
