mysql dump file does not contain all tables
March 07, 2008, 04:38:11 am
I am setting up a testing server so a few days ago I grabbed a backup file from the civicrm admin page and loaded it into a clean database on another machine.  I found that it contained 100 tables, but was missing civicrm_log.  I didn't think this was a big deal so I added the log table manually and all seemed well.

Today I repeated the operation to get a refreshed db and found that a new backup dump contains 99 tables, with both civicrm_log and civicrm_custom_value missing, which is more serious.  I went back and did it again to be sure, and got the same result.  Grepping the sql file for civicrm_custom_value produces no hits.

I can't afford to have incomplete backups.  Any thoughts or suggestions?  This is on version 1.9.12430.

For 1.9, i would recommend you use PHPMyAdmin to backup your civicrm database. You might also want to ensure your backup is automated and runs on a daily basis :)

we've eliminated backup from CiviCRM v2.0. There are other tools much better suited to the job

http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2816

We'll fix the wiki docs shortly
