Verify/update constituent info during civic engagement
October 19, 2012, 03:45:37 pm
When calling, or communicating with constituents, we have an opportunity to verify and update their constituent information (current address, etc.). How can we easily edit the constituent information from the phone bank screen (i.e. inline edit)?

Fewer clicks for the 'operator' means a better end user experience.

When you set up the 'phone bank' you have the option to use a Profile - and you can use an existing one, edit an existing one (warning this will change the Profile whereever it is used) or create a new one.

If that doesn't meet your needs, a more complex but nuanced approach that can give you a nicer interface with Drupal is that you could create a Webform. I would then create a View with the list of Contacts so that I can create a link from there to prepopulate the form with the 'respondents' details - but i think you would still be using the Phone Bank form to actually record and release the respondent. Not sure if the latter helps, just thinking it through myself.

Thanks Pete.

Perhaps the view method could be used to create a shared call list. Then, callers could select a contact from the list to designate as their next contact. Then, a profile, or even the CiviCRM contact page, could display for editing. It seems that a profile could include a generic call script.

Also, I am curious about integrating such a system with a VoIP provider, such as Twilio.

would be really really awesome if you can add "click to call" capability for civi via twilio / tropo etc. We have a fair number of pieces already built and its basically stiching them together along with the integration with twilio etc

a short first step might be to build SMS integration with twilio and then continue onto doing voip integration

if u want to build this, i'd recomment doing a bit of research on various click-2-call systems and seeing what we need to do etc

In terms of the 'shared call list' in my limited experience users tend to use the Reserve/Release Respondents to give User A and User B unique lists to call to avoid any risk of the person being called more than once in a phone frenzy
