CiviAccounts
October 20, 2012, 11:39:25 pm
Hi. I'm thinking of starting a new project using CC, but QuickBooks integration is crucial. I read the WIKI page on CiviAccount, but I couldn't get a clear idea as to when that would be ready for deployment. Is there anyone out there that can give me some clarity?

Thanks a bunch  :)

4.3 should be out in first half of Q1. We hope to do a code freeze by dec

however, pretty sure there is no QB integration at this stage. Would be great if folks who are interested in QB integration get involved now and start contributing code or hiring a developer to make this happen. Would really help lots of folks

Hi. Thanks for replying :)

If this project goes ahead, there is certainly a strong possibility that we'd contribute financially to such a feature. Is it possible to start a MIH for such a thing? How does the cost get determined (i.e. is it up to us to hire a developer and front the entire cost)?

Thanks

Hi Mendel,,

We've raised about $60k so far for different elements of this initiative, mostly from my clients, and we'somewhat underfunded at present. There is no funding directed specifically toward the support for Quickbooks' .iif as an export format but I am _very_ interested in including it. Would your organization be able to fund it to the tune of a couple thousand dollars?

Hi. Thanks for getting back.

Yes, they would quite possibly be interested in putting in those kind of funds if this was the only issue (meaning if, other than this, they wouldn't have to customize much else).

To give you an idea: from what I understand, a system that they are currently looking into would require a $5,000 QB integration, which they are considering.

What kind of framework in terms of time are we looking at: weeks, months, or years? (Please, not years! :) )

Mendel

We hope to have 4.3 out by early Q1 2013

However will have a code freeze by mid november. So if QB integration is needed, i suspect joe and team will need funding and support sometime relatively soon so they can make the code freeze deadline

How about using a third party payment processor like paypal and then using the transaction data from paypal to import into QB?

eg
google search paypal quickbooks  for options

Where do things stand with QB integration.  We are considering the move from Fundware to QB (doing internal testing right).  JoeMurphy and Mendel did you all decide to move forward with this.  I can't contribute a few thousand but I could definitely talk to my boss about $500-$1000 for this.  Please let me know since the deadline is ticking away for that code freeze mid-november.

Also, the answer the PayPal question: Not everyone pays via CC or PayPal transfers.  I think most orgs still get cash and/or checks and want to export those transactions as well.

hi all,

I am particularly interested in this QuickBooks integration for one of our clients.

Has any progress been made recently? It seems as though the demand is out there.

Otherwise, we might have to look at a work-around.

thanks,
Jon-man
