civicrm.css not being used
October 24, 2012, 01:31:56 pm
I am having a problem with the civicrm theme after a failed drupal core update (rolled it back to older version from backup). It seems that some parts of civicrm does not use civicrm.css. It only uses the default drupal theme ( please see the attached images: broken-no civicirm.css applied; normal-with civicrm.css applied ).

Can anybody please tell me how to fix this?

Can you check in the page source to see if that file is indeed being loaded? And then in Firebug for Firefox to see if the file is found?

Sorry for the late response, Hershel.
I have checked that the civicrm.css can be loaded, but it is not being used for some sections (e.g. content, region side bars). I did not see any errors on console panel in firebug. Is this related to a certain file permission not being set correctly? If so, which one is affecting this?

Thank you!

What do you mean that it's "not being used for some sections"?

Do some pages work and others don't?

For some sections, I could see the elements are styled correctly and using the style defined by civicrm.css, but some of them, like I showed in the pictures above, the elements are not using the style definitions from civicrm.css, but using the default drupal style, which lead to an ugly layout.

Hi ouyang1512,

Seems like something in your Drupal theme must be overriding the civicrm.css style rules. Which theme are you using?

Katy J may well be right.

ouyang1512, I can't tell from the images. If you want to send me the URL(s) in a private message, I will look into it.

Thank you both for the suggestions. I am using a zen sub theme. It worked well before I reverted the site back from the failed update of drupal 7.16. Since then, this has been behaving like that. The same theme is working well on my testing site.

Hershal, I really appreciate your help! My production site is not really live yet since some issues with the permissions on the server. It is accessible only on campus. Would you be able to access it if I send you the url? Or any files/tables in DB would work?

Thanks again!

I don't know if I can access it until I try. :)

No, the tables won't help.

Did you ever find a solution to this? I have the same problem. It was working fine on a staging site, but not looking for civicrm.css on the new server. Even when I switch to a generic theme (like Garland) the Civi pages are using that instead of the civi css.

I am not sure if you have solved this or not, but my problem was fixed by upgrading civicrm to a higher version.
