latest-version-cache.txt

My svn repository keeps flagging latest-version-cache.txt. I'm about to add an svn:ignore property to the parent folder (upload) but just wanted to ask first;

Is this file meant to be permanently cached? I did a manually upgrade from 1.9.12432 to 1.9.13019 recently and wondered whether the file download was due to a problem with the upgrade.

Looking at VersionCheck.php I see that 'civicrm-version.txt' is compared to 'latest-version-cache.txt'. I printed the arrays and they are both identical so I'm not sure why the latest-version-cache.txt keeps getting downloaded after I delete it?

yes, we check for the existence of that file, and if not present, we download it again. We also check the timestamp on that file if present and download if old

u can safely add to svn:ignore, r u keeping your 'files' directory in svn?

Yes, there's only the 'civicrm' folder within the files folder and I have added the 'templates_c' to the ignore list.

Would you recommed that 'files' wasn't under version control?

I would not put templates_c under version control, those files are compiled and regenerated if missing. Also smarty does not detect changes very well, hence we ask folks to delete that directory on any upgrade / changes
