Unable to install 4.2.4 on Drupal 7.15 +
October 29, 2012, 06:44:04 am
I've tried installing civicrm on fresh installs of drupal 7.15 and 7.16.

After completing the requirements setup and clicking "Check Requirements and Install CiviCRM", I get the "This could take a few minutes" message, but after 30 seconds or so, the page is left in a blank, white state.

My php error log tells me: "PHP Fatal error:  Cannot redeclare unicode_check() in [path_to_my_site]/sites/drupal/includes/unicode.inc on line 83".

Any help?

This sounds like a Drupal issue. See http://drupal.org/node/72099 for possible causes.

It could be a drupal issue, but it happens with a fresh install of Drupal 7.15 and 7.16.

I moved back to 7.12 and civicrm installed fine, so there definitely seems to be an issue with the newer versions.

Any further help would be greatly appreciated!

If Drupal 7.12 works for you and 7.15 and 7.16 don't, then the problem is with Drupal. What other modules do you have installed?

After running the standard install, the first thing I try is to install civicrm (before adding any other modules).

7.12 Works
7.15 Doesn't work
7.16 Doesn't work

I haven't tried other versions. It may be an issue with Drupal, but when I'm installing a module on a clean install and the module install process fails, then from a user perspective, it seems like an issue that needs to be fixed within the module.

Yes, your analysis is logical, but it's not correct in this case. CiviCRM is known to install with no problems on all versions of Drupal. I myself can attest to that. :)

There are other potential causes for this problem on the page I mentioned: http://drupal.org/node/72099 some of them server-based.

Have you tried to install any other modules on your Drupal 7.16? If they also fail, then that would clarify where the problem lies.

Ok. Thanks for your help. I disabled APC and the installation went smoothly in 7.16.

Thanks!
