New permission does not upgrade menu dropdowns
November 06, 2012, 01:52:23 am
When I change someone's Civi permissions they seem to get the new permission but their Civi menu doesn't reflect the changes. This means they cannot easily access the info they require.

For example I upgraded our Student Worker so that he could deal with Events. His menu did not change to show the Events dropdown but he definitely has the increased permission as I can copy a URL into the browser when he is logged in which will take him to an Events search page.

How can I get the menu to reflect a change of permission?

Hi LindseyM,

Did you Enable CiviEvents? Go to Administer-->System Settings-->Enable CiviCRM Components. You should see a list on the left of components that aren't enabled. If CiviEvent is in that list, click it, select add, and save. That should take care of the issue.

Cheers,
Jason

LindseyM, ask the user to logout and login again also. That may help.

Thanks - I've since discovered that we needed to use the URL menu/rebuild?refresh=1 to refresh the menu settings and that's sorted it!
