Undefined offset: 5 in CRM_Core_BAO_UFGroup::getValues()

So I have a custom field that is a select list that I'm using on a profile. For some contacts I get this error and, strangely, the list of items begins with a comma.

Any idea what might be going on?

Did you remove any options from the list?
