exporting membership status of event participants
November 09, 2012, 10:41:23 am
I'm new so please bear with me. :)

I need to be able to see the membership status of all of the participants attending an event. I tried going to manage event > view participants > export all fields.  Then I selected custom fields to export.

I have a member type called "individual" and expected to see an option under there for membership status. I see "Membership number" and "membership joined", but no membership status.  Is there something I'm missing? Is there another way to export an event participant list that includes membership status?

thank you!

couple of options might help

if you go to Adv Search, set the top right select to Display Results as Memberships, then set the Event section to select people who are attending your event, then SEARCH you should get the results as memberships - and if you export then you will have option for Membership Status etc

otherwise if you make a Smart Group of everyone attending this event, and then go to the Membership Report.

Not sure either quite meet your needs - but let us know how you go and what is missing from either of the above that you need

thanks for your help! the first way did the trick! this is a workaround for us until we can implement event discounts for members.

thanks!

but wouldn't it just be easier if, while in the view events participants area, "status" was an option in the custom fields export? Is there any way that I can add that to the available list of options?

Note that event discounts for members is part of the feature set for the discount extension which is currently in active development.

There is an MIH for this which is very close to being met:

http://civicrm.org/content/make-it-happen#discount

would be great if your org / client can help support the make it happen

I'm following up on this. although the original suggestions do provide some of the solutions we need, it's not ideal.

I need to create an event attendee report that shows:

member name
membership status
event fee type
fee type quantity

otherwise I am creating a membership report as petednz suggested, but I have to manually cross check that report with the event attendee report to see who purchased a discounted membership ticket but is not actually an active member.

does this make sense?
