Transient issue with "Page not Found" on event info pages for anonymous users
November 09, 2012, 06:25:35 pm
We are having a transient issue with "Page not Found" on event info pages for anonymous users on one site.
The anonymous user has the following permissions:
  • access all custom data
  • access CiviMail subscribe/unsubscribe pages
  • profile create/li]
    • access uploaded files
    • make online contributions
    • profile edit
    • profile view
    • register for events
    • profile listings and forms
    • view participants
    • view public CiviMail content

The last time this happened I added "access CiviEvent " to the anoymous user permissions saved, then removed and saved again. Then the anonymous user could then view the info page fine.
These event info pages do have some custom data fields in the profiles and there are some ACLS on the custom data. Theoretically the Drupal permission "access all custom data" should override these ACLs but something is not working here (intermittently).

Any suggestions for a troubleshooting path?

i would remove profile listings and forms (its too broad a permission and not needed for most sites)

also are u using acl's at all?

Yes, this site has some ACLs. The event info pages do show one profile with some custom data on it.

The ACLs: Every custom group can be edited only by a staff "role" and there is one that can be edited by everyone. I think these are probably overridden by the global Drupal "access all custom data" permission though. Not sure why when I looked at them yesterday they made sense.

I guess it would make more sense to either remove the global "access all custom data" permission and add one for everyone to access the event custom data or to get rid of the ACLs if they are to ovverridden anyway.

Would this be a caching issue or conflict?

Thanks a lot for your help with this. I am going to try it out. I can apply it to that site tomorrow.

Hi,

I wanted to wait a while to see if I could trap the error "live" and check the SQL manually. I never could though and the customer was the only one who could ever see the error for long enough. So I applied the patch a few weeks ago "blind" to see if it would help. Looks like it didn't though and we have the error again. This time I had about 10 minutes to investigate. I forgot to take a SQL dump while it was happening.  :(

It is related to some kind of caching for sure (but only affecting the Event Info pages for anonymous users as far as I can tell) since when I enabled the devel module to allow me to do a stack trace before returning "MENU_NOT_FOUND" the issue was gone again due to saving the module list.
