Changing root folders?
November 13, 2012, 06:38:16 am
Hi!

I have a new joomla 2.5 installation, and am in the process of installing Civicrm on it. Since this is an upgrade to a 1.5, it now resides in a subdir <webroot>/j25/. When I am finished with the design of it, I am going to replace it at the webroot - so this is a move to another directory. I understand how to do this with Joomla - but will Civicrm survive the move, or should I wait with the installation of it until Joomla has moved?

if you install prior to the move, you'll need to manually update the two settings files to reflect the correct directory and url after the move.
components/com_civicrm/civicrm.settings.php
administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm.settings.php

Hi!

Thanks! And that is all? Nothing in database?
Just double and triple checking, since installation is difficult on my site, but life would be much easier if I could install before moving...

you'll probably need to clear caches after the move.
and if you've configured override directories for php/tpl/extension -- those will need to be updated.
but that should be it.

Hello Magnus,

I haven't migrated an instal across CMS upgrades, so I took the liberty of searching the forums. I Came across this:
http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,26215.msg110911.html#msg110911

Of course, if you aren't sure about it, you can always move Joomla first. that might actually be a little easier.

Cheers,
Jason
