analysing mail opens and clickthroughs (classifying, shifting to tags/groups)
November 16, 2012, 03:24:53 pm
Hi all,

just demoed the civimail features to local team yesterday... is there a facility to transfer mail opens and clickthroughs to tags/groups?

also would be useful to somehow classify individual urls and mail outs under topics to facilitate managing this

use cases:
- "find me everyone interested in climate change"
- "find me everyone who's clicked our facebook link"
- "find me people who opened mail X, but didn't open mail Y"
- etc etc

I may have time to work up a junky drupal module to support the above in a crude kind of way, but is there any work already done?

I guess leveraging the advanced search would be neatest... but that maybe beyond me

You should be able to do this manually via advanced search. i.e. search for folks who have opened / clicked thru and create a group etc

however if your org does a decent number of mailings, the above is not scalable. Neither is creating those groups/tags very scalable, since u'll get too many grups/tags

tagging mailings is definitely an option and do-able (10-20 hour project). Tagging individual urls might be a lot more complex

I am often confused at why when Civi returns a list it's different in each different request.
Everytime you have a list- you should be able to sort, select, tag, group, delete etc. as well as roll over to see a quick look (which should be customizable!)
I am interested in being able to add people who clicked on a specific link- ie- wanted to read more about "campaign finance reform"- adding them to a group-
Can't do this now- the lists of names that return from civimail are not selectable.
