Confluence is a leading edge web design and development company that focuses on open source solutions for nonprofits. We are looking for someone who enjoys programming to join our team immediately. This job is varied and fun; people can expect to learn a wide variety of new skills and work on many different types of projects. There is never a dull moment.  This is an excellent position for someone who likes to multi-task tiny assignments with longer-term project-based work. Sample tasks might include:

•   Implementing and maintaining complex CiviCRM-based sites
•   Designing and implementing functional website components (extensions, plug-ins, modules) in WordPress, Drupal or Joomla
•   Ad-hoc programming in PHP
•   Review of existing websites to come up with suggestions for improvement
•   Migrating websites from one shared web host to another
•   Light Javascript programming / debugging
•   Performing routine HTML updates of websites

Required Skills:
•   PHP
•   Drupal and Joomla CMS
•   XHTML, HTML5, CSS
•   MySQL
•   Verbal and written communication

Desired Skills:
•   Familiarity with CiviCRM would be excellent, otherwise, a willingness to become an expert in this open source software
•   Linux server expertise

In addition, candidates will be expected to provide estimates in advance for tasks (number of hours to complete) and work within those estimates. We are looking for candidates with at least two years of hands-on, directly relevant experience. This is a junior-to-mid level position. College degrees in Computer Science or closely related field are preferable. We offer a full and competitive benefits package.

This position is in Washington DC near the Farragut North and West metro stations and provides for one tele-working day per work. You would work with a team of other designers / UI / UX experts / and developers.
