no manual update for civiGroup roles sync

I'm have Drupal 7.15 and civiCRM 4.1 

I'm having trouble synchronising with drupal roles. I seem to have a configure tab and a manual sync tab for the civiMember roles sync module, but for the civiGroup module I only have 'list' and 'add' association rules - no config or sync tab :-(  Is this as it should be, is it a bug, or does it mean my installation has a problem?

what version of 4.1?

I do remember encountering a similar bug that was fixed by an upgrade - you might want to download the latest version and see how civicrm/drupal/modules/civicrm_member_roles/civicrm_member_roles.module differs from your version.

Thanks Michael, I've been struggling with this for a while now so think I'll upgrade and see if that works any better!

I have the same issue but with CiviGroups, not CiviMember

I am using version 4.2.6 (with Drupal 7.17, I think - how do I tell?) and I have "CiviGroup Roles Sync" enabled in the Drupal modules.
I have roles "administrator" and "Coach" and I want those roles to synchronise with groups in CiviCRM by the same names.
  • Firstly, do I need to create the groups manually?  I created them manually (I assumed I had to as this gave me control of what type of group they are, eg Access Control.)
  • Secondly, when does the syncronisation run, as I cannot find a menu option to force the sync to run.  Is it supposed to run when cron runs, because it does not seem to, as I manually ran cron but it did not populate the groups as I had hoped.
  • Thirdly, I can find no documentation about this, although the functionality to sync CiviMember Membership Types to Drupal roles seems well documented.  I guess I should participate in the next documentation sprint and document this feature (when I can find out how it works!).

I had not read the user guide properly, so did not see the documentation on this topic, which I have now read and got it working as it should.
