Hide event participants from Google?
November 25, 2012, 01:08:58 pm
I have a problem...

Some of my event participants are complaining, because their names are linked to the events, when their names are Googled.

How can I prevent Google from indexing my participants?

Best Regards

Pelle

Hi Pelle

You will probably need to provide more information - are you 'listing participants' for these events?
Can you provide a typical url that google is trawling that is resulting in the names being indexed?

If you just have an event that people sign up for, and there are no profiles that can be used for public search/listing then i don't understand what google is finding

Good point. I will ask the users for an concrete example.

And I will check the profiles used in the events.

Now I have an exemple.

How can I block links like this?

http://www.forstyr.dk/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/contact/view/contribution&Itemid=435&reset=1&action=add&cid=1655&context=contribution&key=1a20bf1fb062b03c0bbb686408a5feea_9175

In the profiles? Or are there other ways?

Where Can I finde guidance?

Beste Regards

Pelle

It looks like someone has modified the default permissions for CiviCRM forms and pages. By default back-office forms like this can not be viewed by anonymous/public or registered users. You should review and modify the permissions for CiviCRM functionality from your Administrative site at CiviCRM > Administer > Users and Permissions > Permissions > Joomla Access Control.

You should also review this section in the online user guide:

Thanks for your help. I will check the permissions.

It worked! The link is now blocked.

I will now read the user guide again ;)

Best Regards
